Gateway 14 is being developed by Jaynic, a local property development company, and it is owned by Gateway 14 Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of MSDC.
Across the 156 acre site, we have permission to develop logistics, manufacturing, offices, and research and development buildings of various sizes and to create more than 25 acres of landscaping and green spaces. You can see the approved illustrative masterplan for Gateway 14 here.
The Gateway 14 site has been designated for this type of use for many years. It is allocated by MSDC for employment and supporting uses in the following local planning policy documents:
- The Local Plan (adopted 1998)
- The Core Strategy (adopted 2008)
- The Core Strategy Focussed Review (2012)
- The Stowmarket Area Action Plan (adopted 2013)
It is also allocated in the new Joint Local Plan that MSDC and Babergh Council are currently drawing up.
Community consultation
Before we submitted the planning application, we invited the local community and stakeholders (such as town and parish councils and local community groups) to view the draft plans for Gateway 14 and provide feedback (during September and October 2020). The feedback you sent us helped to shape the plans for Gateway 14 before we submitted the planning application in January 2021.
